Artist's Statement

 

Each miniature landscape was painted on site, outdoors, or from a city window.  The views represent shifting moments of familiar places.  Today we are so accustomed to looking at small images on screens that we lose the tactile experience of the image.  While many objects are supersized to be enjoyed bigger and in larger quantities, other commodities such as technology come smaller and smaller.  The scale of the paintings cannot truly be appreciated in pixels on screen.  Just as plein air painting must be done on site, miniature paintings must be experienced in person.
